Illinois has located nearly 650,000 doses of flu vaccine from Europe that can be shipped to the U.S. within hours of FDA approval.
Illinois has arranged to obtain close to 300,000 doses of flu vaccine from wholesalers in Europe, and American Airlines has agreed to provide free shipping for the entire supply, Gov. Rod Blagojevich announced.
The vaccine is earmarked for Illinois citizens most vulnerable to the flu. As a result of American's offer, the flu vaccines secured by Blagojevich will be able to be transported to Illinois immediately upon approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
