As a way to spur the development of custom medical treatments, the X-Prize Foundation is offering $10 million -- the Archon X Prize for Genomics -- to the first team of scientists who can sequence 100 sets of human genomes in just 10 days.
Rapid sequencing is thought to be key to being able to tailor drugs to a person's unique genetic makeup.
The X Foundation awarded the Ansari X Prize two years ago in a private spaceflight competition. |
