One of 12 All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) medical students who fell ill due to an outbreak of dengue in New Delhi has died, according to press reports.

Raj Kiran succumbed on Saturday less than 24 hours after he was admitted.

Five staff members and five others have been admitted at AIIMS for dengue.

The students at staff at the medical school reportedly are quartered in cramped and unsanitary conditions near toilets that are ideal breeding sites for the mosquito that carries the disease.
