 Some of the patients were confirmed to have Dengue Fever, while one was suffering from Congo Crimean Hamorrhagic Fever, according to reports.
Hemorrhagic fever has killed five people, including a doctor, and infected at least 50 people in the biggest city in southern Pakistan, a senior health official said Saturday.
Naushad A. Sheikh, the top health official in southern Sindh province, said the cases were reported in Karachi over the past six weeks, but insisted the "situation is well under control."
Major Health Concern
Hemorrhagic fevers, which include such illnesses as Ebola and Marburg, have become a major health concern in recent years. Symptoms include headaches and vomiting, followed by bleeding from the nose, mouth and ears.
"We have set up special wards for these patients, and doctors have been asked to take preventive measures while handling such cases," he said.
