Low-Cal Diet Slows Some Effects of Aging - But Not Memory Loss

Mice fed a severely restricted low-calorie diet did not experience some of the changes usually associated with aging -- such as accumulation of free radicals and loss of coordination and strength -- but they did suffer typical age-relaged memory loss.
The study, conducted at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, was presented on Sunday at Neuroscience 2004, the Society for Neuroscience's 34th Annual Meeting in San Diego.
