Hormones To Curb Height May Lead to Infertility

Tall girls given estrogen therapy in adolescence in order to reduce adult height are more likely than the general population to experience fertility problems later in life. This finding is based on research conducted in Australia and published in the latest issue of The Lancet. Treatment with estrogen to reduce the adult height of tall girls has been available since the 1950s. No randomized trials have examined the effect of estrogen therapy, however, which alters the development of the long bones and has been reported to reduce adult height by 2 |
