Vitamin E Implicated as Lung Cancer Risk Factor

Vitamin E supplements may heighten the risk of lung cancer, suggests new research published in the Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine. While connections between lung cancer and such factors as smoking and family history were expected, the researchers were surprised to note a statistically significant association with vitamin E supplementation and occurrence of the disease.

The coverage of the recent research on lung cancer and vitamin E is concerning. The meaning of this finding is being sensationalized in media reports.
