Young children have been dying in pursuit of a state of euphoria through strangulation, a practice known variously as "the choking game," the "pass-out game," the "blackout game," the "scarf game," "space monkey," or "airplaning." Between 1995 and 2007, the U.S. government has documented 82 deaths, most of them boys with an average age of 13. Sixty-six of those cases occurred in the last three years.
