Drugs Used to Calm Aggression Don't Work

Two drugs that were originally developed to treat schizophrenia but have been commonly used to control aggression in people with lower levels of intelligence are ineffective for that purpose, new research indicates. "The routine prescription of antipsychotic drugs early in the management of aggressive challenging behavior, even in low doses, should no longer be regarded as a satisfactory form of care," the authors wrote in The Lancet.
