Dr. Patricia Rashbrook, 63, began treatment last October with Italian fertility doctor Severino Antinori, who specializes in treating post-menopausal women.
A doctor is to become Britain's oldest mum at the age of 63 after having IVF treatment. Patricia Rashbrook is thought to have spent pounds 50,000 (US$92,069) on a controversial fertility program.
The twice-wed doctor went to Rome for the treatment because the legal age limit for IVF in the UK is 50.
She said last night: "I wasn't keen for this to come out yet, but I am happy."
Her husband John Farrant, 61, said: "My wife is seven months' pregnant. We are both very happy." But he added being a parent is "a daunting prospect at our age."
The child psychologist's 26-year-old daughter Caroline and son William, 22 -- both from her first marriage -- are said to be overjoyed.
